Asiatic Lion: The Pride of India
Once roaming vast territories across Asia, the Asiatic lion now survives only in India’s Gir Forest National Park. Smaller than their African cousins, these lions have a distinct fold of skin along their bellies and shorter manes.
Asiatic lions live in prides, often smaller than those in Africa, with males and females working together to protect their territory and hunt. Their primary prey includes deer and wild boar. Conservation efforts have been instrumental in bringing their population back from the brink of extinction, but they remain endangered due to habitat fragmentation and human-wildlife conflict.
