Call of the Wildlands

Sumatran Tiger: A Striped Survivor

The Sumatran tiger, the smallest of all tiger subspecies, is found only on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. With its dense, dark orange coat and narrow black stripes, this tiger is perfectly camouflaged for the tropical rainforest.

Sumatran tigers are solitary and elusive, hunting deer, wild boar, and other prey under the cover of night. Sadly, their population has plummeted due to deforestation and poaching. Today, fewer than 400 Sumatran tigers remain in the wild. Conservation programs focus on protecting their forest habitats and cracking down on illegal wildlife trade.
